A man whose sole interest is to seduce women. Also known as a womanizer or player. The word originated from a character of the same name from the play, "The Fair Penitent" by Nicholas Rowe. In the play, Lothario seduces and betrays Calista.

A lothario is someone who is smooth with the ladies while saying cheesy and or provocative expressions without any discredit to his reputation. His appearance and attitude allow him to get away with saying and doing things that another man would be laughed at for doing. Lotharios are flirty and extroverted.

A lothario is a ladies' man, a Romeo, a Casanova, or a seducer. The term originally comes from a characted that was named Lothario in a play by Nicholas Rowe called "The Fair Penitent". Over the words the name of the character has entered the English language as an eponym.
