A lobbyist is a paid professional who tries to sway the opinions of decision-makers, usually politician. Lobbyists are hired by companies and organizations to promote their interests, gain access to elected officials, and often to write proposed legislation to be given to lawmakers.

A lobbyist is a representative of a certain group who is hired by that company to help get its point across to the elected political leaders. An example would be if your company is in the tobacco industry and a bill is pending to curtail tobacco production. Your lobbyist would help official see how beneficial your business is that state.

A lobbyist is a private company or individual whose job it is to convince legislators to act in a certain way. This could include trying to influence how they vote on a bill. It can also include trying to convince them in introduce--or block--new laws. Many former legislators become lobbyists after they leave the government.
