Specifically, it is the Lord Howe Island stick insect, which was thought to be extinct for many years and which somewhat resembles a lobster. It is six inches long and roughly the thickness of a human finger. Other, bulkier insects in the stick category can be called "land lobsters" as well.

It isa lord howe island stick insect which grows to 6 inches long. They were just rediscovered in 2001.
