A keloid is excessive scarring on the body. The keloid is usually darker in colour, either red or brown, and is raised above the skin. Keloids can be treated by compression or steroid injections.

A keloid is a type of scar. This type of scar tends to get bigger and bigger and also tend to have an assymetrical shape. However, this type of scar doesn't stop growing. Instead, they get worse over time instead of the way a usual scar that fades over time.

It is scar tissue that is benign, non contagious and can hurt or itch. They can occur also at a piercing or acne. There is a greater occurrence in darker pigmented persons. No 100& effective treatments are available but varying efforts are worth the try from natural, gels and creams, dressings to the extent of surgery if they become ulcerated.
