Please save the date (enter date of your wedding). We (enter names of bride and groom) are pleased to announce that we are engaged to get married and we hope that you would be able to share this special day of our lives with us. Our formal wedding invitation will be sent to you shortly.

Announcements and invitations for marriages have broadened over the years to include not only the couple's names but that of family as well. Perhaps this is due to the often accepted blending of families at the current time. No matter the situation, the couple's wishes should be recognized and the style should reflect their personal choices.

Marriage announcements may be worded similar to invitations. On a typical invitation parents of the bride and groom 'are pleased to request the presence' of the invitation recipient. An announcement would replace the text with: 'are please to announce the union of' the bride and groom. A simple solution is to omit any words indicating invitation with words indicating announcement.

Something meaningful to the couple getting married would be best, if they're religious mentioning "union in Christ" or something along those lines would be great. If they're party animals something much more casual would be appropriate. Make the words match the couple without offending friends or family.
