A normal platelet count for an adult is 150,000 to 450,000. Anything below 150,000 puts the person at risk for severe bleeding as blood doesn't clot as well, anything higher 450,000 number puts the person at risk for stroke as result of platelet clotting with the excess platelets.

The normal number of platelets in the human body is 150,000 to 400,000 so being within this range is ideal. However, one can drop very low before having any real problems.

A good platelet count is generally well above 20,000 platelets per microliters of blood. If it goes below that level, it can be indicative that a person is at risk for severe bleeding. The normal range for the platelet count is between 150,000 to 400,000 platelets per microliters of blood.

A platelet count will determine if you have a bleeding disorder or bone marrow disease. An adult's normal count is 150,000 to 450,000 platelets per microliter. Below 20,000 per microliter can be life threatening. Women's levels might decrease just before menstrating.
