A good homeopathic treatment for itchy skin on a canine is dandruff shampoo or coal tar shampoo. Another remedy is tea tree oil. As with humans, this can be rubbed in and is antibacterial in nature, so it will not harm the skin. Coal tar shampoo stops the itch almost immediately, but wears off quickly.

I like a good oatmeal based shampoo, but you need to check w/your vet- this is a symptom of many things, some serious. Bag Balm is very good, or topical treatment with pure aloe, no alcohol! Itchy skin is a serious heads up tho, often nutritional- please see your vet.

The first thing you need to do is figure out what it causing the itchy skin. Oftentimes it's a food allergy. If that's the case you need to the change the food you are feeding your dog. Feed a high quality food with no corn, a lot of dogs are allergic to corn.
