The further a sound wave travels from its source, the greater the loss of detectable sound waves. db loss refers to the equation used to measure this loss over distance travelled. Different frequencies have different loss characteristics. The lower the frequency, the farther the sound will travel without loss. The higher the frequency, the more quickly it suffers db loss.

A db is a decibal,a unit of measurement in acoustics and electronics.Db loss occurs when a signal passes though another conductive material and looses any of its strength. Which means the end signal will be weaker than signal it started with. The difference is what is considered the db loss.
