This was never known to happen. Usually what happened with this coin is that the date wore away since it was the high point of the coin. These are usually worth very little money usually as little as just twenty or thirty cents. You can take it to a specialist to find out for sure.

Not much I'm afraid. Buffalo nickels without the date are worth about 15 cents. This is only because the are sometimes used in jewelry.
