Angelou is perhaps most known for "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings," the first part of her six-part autobiography about overcoming racism and trauma through creative writing. "I Know Why" was published in 1969. She wrote and read a poem for Clinton's 1993 inauguration.

Maya is best known for her six autobiographical books which started with "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings". Her book of poetry entitled "Just Give Me a Cool Drink of Water 'Fore I Diiie" won her a Pulitzer Prize. Her most recent is "We Had Him" published in 2009.
