A marine who goes AWOL or Absent Without Leave will need to turn himself in to the marines and will probably face a court martial or other disciplinary action. Sometimes AWOL servicemen are simply dishonorably discharged, sometimes they must serve time with the the military and perform extra duties.

An AWOL marine who returns will be court-martialed by the military's justice system. He or she can expect extremely heavy punishment, especially during wartime.

Depends on circumstances, time AWOL and previous record. You've violated Article 86 UCMJ. They could Court Martial you, offer Article 15 punishment, or (rarely) let you go with a reprimand.

He will be in trouble. The amount of trouble will depend upon why he went AWOL and how long he was away. For a brief absence, his commander might simply assign him some punishment details. The longer the absence, however, the greater the likelihood of a court martial, which could result in a dishonorable discharge.

Typically military personnel that are AWOL will be stand for a court martial. Depending on the circumstances surrounding the absence the soldier may be discharged or punished. Non-discharged soldiers typically see a reduction in rank, fines, or similar punishments.

The marine would face a court marshal. He/she could be punished with jail time (brig) and then be given a dishonerable discharge. If the marine voluntarily turns himself in, then its most likely a dishonorable discharge as fast as possible, if they come and arrest you then the possibility of jail time is much more likely.
