In this poem the speaker is in wood, he wonders who own this wood but he think he does know that who own them. The lucky landowner lives in a house in village. Speaker have a horse and little horse has some harness bells on his back.

Some think this poem's about contemplating suicide. The man stops in the woods and is going to stay but decides to move on because he still has "miles to go."
