Many women have strep B and give birth to very healthy babies. As long as you caregiver gives you antibiotics during birth you will be fine. If they do things right there is nothing to worry about.

The good news is that 98 to 99 percent of all babies born to the infected mothers will not get infected if they are treated. Usually the risk to the baby occurs during the birthing process, when the baby comes in contact with the bacteria in the birth canal. Consult your doctor for more information about the possible procedures.

I don't believe that it will harm the baby before birth, but your doctor will want to treat during delivery so that it doesn't harm the baby after birth.

Group B strep can be passed to the baby during delivery and can be harmful to the baby. Infection can be prevented by administration of antibiotics during labor.
