January 29th, 2010 General Mills made the decision to stop production of Columbo Yogurt in order to use its resources on Yoplait yogurt instead. General Mills decided that having two different yogurt lines wasn't a good stragetic move, and decided that they would be able to improve their quality if they were able to focus on one instead of two.

Yoplait cannot compare with Columbo. I don`t like the Yoplait containers either.  add a comment

What a disappointment. I tried all the other brands, none come close. For years I ate Columbo yogurt twice a day. I've stopped eating it completely. All the others are terrible.  add a comment

The decision to stop the production of Columbo Yogurt is yet another example in the deterioration of the quality of everything American. Sad, sad, sad.  add a comment

I agree!!! COLUMBO YOGURT was the absolute best yogurt on the market! I have tried several different kinds of yogurt and COLUMBO YOGURT was hands down the best! The only yogurt that comes close is ACTIVIA but ACTIVIA only comes in extra small containers!!! Please! Please! Please return a classic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  add a comment

Columbo gave you a better value than Dannon, I believe it was 8 oz. vs. 6 oz. But then Dannon countered with the Activia line which took off despite the smaller portion.  add a comment

I agree with Anonymous 100%. I have pretty much stopped eating yogurt too since they stopped making Columbo. The only one I like a little bit is Mueller, but it doesn't come close. Columbo was part of life growing up with my Lebanese mother.  add a comment

Columbo is so much better. Yoplait is hard to get the yogurt out of so I feel like I waste money when I eat it because there is so much left in the container  add a comment

They're a General Mills product now, so they're still around. If your grocery store has stopped carrying anything in particular you can ask up at the Service Desk to have them order it - free of additional cost - though they might have a minimum amount (case or crate) requirement.

Columbo yogurt still exists as a brand. However, the company was bought out by General Mills, so Columbo now stands as a General Mills brand. Having moved from a small, family owned concern to a multi-million dollar corporation, it is possible that the formula has changed, which would change the taste as well.

I really miss their yogurt it was the best tasting...to me. I know we all have to do what's best for us at the time. They had some great flavors! I hope they are still making it for somebody.  add a comment

If you are talking about the same yogurt I am thinking of, I have to say, I don't know. They made frozen yogurt as I recall (a bit like sherbert). Sold in my favorite "po boy" store as a kid. I guess they went out of business?

Well, no one sells it any more. It turns out that the yogurt brand wasn't as popular. Many people were not buying it and resorting to other brands. There are many other popular brands on the market that people buy so stores no longer carry it anymore. You can contact Columbo for more info.

Not popular, it was selling since 1929...look up your facts before you post. Company was purchased and eliminated by General Mills. So yoplait yogurt can be more successful.  add a comment

Columbo was great yogurt - tangy and tasty. Yoplait sweet garbage is for people that don't like real yogurt!
