It's called "Laurie (Strange Things Happen)," a 1965 hit by Dickey Lee. It tells the story of a boy who falls for "an angel of a girl" he meets at a dance and she wears his sweater home. When he goes to her house to retrieve it, her dad tells him she died a year ago that night.
