Caviar or Ikra served on Blini (type of pancakes which can be eaten sweet or savoury), Shashlyk which are like kebabs made from meat and vegetables, Smetana ( a type of sour cream), Pirozhki (similar to the cornish pastie), borshch (beet soup), Pelmeni (filled dumplings) and for pudding a traditional Morozhenoe (russian ice-cream)

Due to the climate the majority of the Russian foods are foods that help you warm and give you energy. The Russian have a lot of soups, like beef and cabbage soup, noodle soup, pork soup and as side dish manly potatoes and cabbage.
