It stands for the word aqueous. It is a solution that is a result of particles being dissolved in water for example a salt solution or a sugar solution is an aqueous solution. The symbol (aq) is mostly used in chemical equations and is used to denote aqueous solutions like hydrogen carbonate and other solutions.

If you mean "aq" as in "bars", this "aq" is the coat of arms of Tatarstan. It is an ancient Bolgar or Turkish symbol that translates to "Snow Leopard" .
