What does the American Dental Association have to say about performing root canals on babies?

A root canal is done when the root is infected/damaged. Dentists take an oath to do what is best for the patient. They do not perform endodontic therapy on anyone for fun.

The ADA recommends baby root canals because the baby teeth are needed for chewing as well as learning to speak correctly. Baby root canals are much less invasive than adult root canals and require only a small amount of local anesthtic, which is safe for children. Your babies teeth should last for six to seven years.

If babies don't have teeth until they are 8 months old or older why would you want a baby to go through a root canal, when their teeth are not permanent anyway.

Babies generally don't have teeth. A toddler may, as the result of an injury, need a root canal to relieve pain. Dentists, like physicians, have a vow of "no harm."

They will do a root canal on baby teeth but this would be once they are over the age of a toddler even. A child would be at they age of where they have their teeth already grown in and a cavaty has already set into the tooth. This wouldnt really be possible for a baby.
