dental care

Question by  Paladin (19)

Do root canals need to be crowned?

I need 2 root canals. Will that be it for these 2 teeth?

A root canal removes the root and pulp that nourish a tooth, so the tooth is dead. It become discolored and brittle and will eventually snap off at the gum line. A crown protects the tooth so that you can keep it.

Yes, you will need crowns to avoid losing the tooth. After a root canal the tooth is dead and fragile; it will break easily without a crown.

No. After the root canals you will have to go back to have a mold done for a crown for each tooth. 2 weeks later the crowns get cemented on.

No, that would not be it. it is very important for teeth with root canals to be crowned to avoid the filling form comming out and to avoid an infection.
