Are you going through menopause? Hirsuitism (excess hair) is usually due to hormonal changes. Hormone replacement therapy can help. A thyroid issue might also be the cause.

A sudden excess hair growth can range anywhere from excess hair of the armpits, facial hair, arms, legs, buttocks, toes, back or anywhere else that may not be normal for any man or woman. Sometimes people with hormone imbalances have to take certain medications like steroids to regulate problems like this.

It means that suddenly, you've had hair grow in places it shouldn't be or grow more than usual in places it is supposed to be. If you're a woman, birth control can sometimes cause this. Excess hair growth can usually be corrected, so even if something is wrong with you, it's probably an easy fix.

This could be a sign of decreasing estrogen levels, such as that that is seen with menopause or some illnesses.
