Di Canio retired in 2008 from football. He then moved one seeking a position as a coach at Coverciano. He aspires and works to managing the club West Ham and he also applied for the position in 2008, seven month after he retired from the sport. In July 2010, West Ham opened the 'Paolo Di Canio Lounge'.
