If they are finished woods, it's possible the chemical in the polish is tasty to your cat. It's also possible your cat has a strong grooming instinct and finds wood fulfills it.
Cats like textures and flavors that differ from their normal routine. As long as the wood is free of splinters, cleaners, polishes and varnish then there's little to worry about.
