What does it mean when someone says he's a "conservative investor?"

My friend says that all the time.

While the defintion varies a conservative investor typically leans more towards investing in bonds then stocks. He also invests in well covered high dividend stocks that are stable like utilities, and consumer staples. Finally, this person often does not chase the next hot idea perferring companies with long track records.

This means that you are careful about where you invest your money you don't take a lot of risks but investing it wisely. Not a large risk taker you don't loose the money.
