What does it mean when my generator problem lights come on in my 1990 Olds?

The first thing that comes to mind is that the alternator has started to fail. Eventually the vehicle will not keep battery voltage because the "generator" stops putting out voltage. Replace the alternator or see if brushes are still available for your model. Most repair facilities will check the output of the altenator voltage for you for free!

This is a fairly difficult repair, if you consider yourself a novice i would recommend either consulting your car manual, or seeking the help of a licensed mechanic to-be safe.

Signs of the alternator starting to fail. The battery is not going to keep voltage due to the fact that the generator stopped putting out the voltage. Looks like you may need alternator but it will be wise to take it to a repair shop to test output for free.
