Black or green fecal matter is often an indicator that the iron levels in an individual, or in this case, your cat, are significantly elevated, not always a bad thing, but definitely monitor his or her diet and if it continues you may want to call a vet and ask what you need to do if anything.

Have you recently changed your cat's food? This can cause changes in the colour of their poops. Blackish tints, however, can be indicative of blood in the stool (from a problem in the digestive system). The best thing to do would be to take a sample to your vet for analysis, and get a general check up.

Green feces can be caused by eating an abundance of grass or plant matter. Black feces is caused by blood in the stool.
