If the bodies platelet count is too high it means you are suffering from a condition known as thrombocytosis. This can cause a greater chance of blood clots but only if the serum level is quite high. Most increases require no treatment other then the determination of the cause and the treatment of that.

A moderate rise in the count may be due to inflammation but a high count could be a sign of a more serious problem.
