Your spine is composed of bones, called vertebra, stacked on top of each other. In between each bone is a soft cushioning called a spinal disc. Cervical herniation means that the discs in between the vertebra in your neck area protrude out and touch the nerves that leave the vertebra.

A "cervical herniated" disc in the neck is when a portion of the spine bulges from alignment and causes numbness, pain, or a tingling sensation in the arms.

A cervical herniated disc is a disc herniation in your cervical or neck region of your vertebral spinous column. It can cause no symptoms or it can compress an exiting nerve causing neuropathic electrical pain and/or numbing in the upper extremities. It could also cause upper extremity muscle weakness and pain.

This means there is one or more herniated (ruptured)disks in the cervical spine (C-spine.) This usually requires surgery, though conservative treatments may include PT or a cervical collar.
