Answer by  Supriya36 (48)

Fertilizers contain various macronutrients that help to sustain plant life. All contain the three nutrients essential for a healthy plant: nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Nitrogen makes plants grow quickly. Phosphorus is most beneficial for root growth and blooming. Potassium is beneficial in keeping diseases at bay. Other nutrients found in fertilizers are calcium, magnesium, sulfur, iron and zinc

Potassium, phosphorus, and nitrogen, called fertilizer macronutrients, are the basics. Next are the secondary macronutrients that include sulfur, calcium, and magnesium. Also present are micronutrients called trace minerals. Nitrogen makes it grow, phosphorus encourages rooting thru production, and potassium helps prevent plant disease. These three represent the numbers on bag.

The (3) common fertilizer macronutrients: N/Nitrogen: Essential component of proteins, deficiency stunts growth. P/Phosphorous: Essential component of Adenosine-triphosphate(ATP, cellular-energy) for photosynthesis & biosynthesis. K/Potassium: regulates leaf-pore/stomata opening/closing (water regulation).

Nitrogen (N) has a large influence on the vegetative growth of the plant. Phosphorus (P) helps with the cells that develop fruits and seeds as well as root growth. Potassium (K) is necessary for normal cell division and many cell functions such as development of chlorophyll.
