Since King Palms are relatively fast growing, fertilizer is a good idea. Palms have special needs in fertilizers though, and are prone to magnesium and other mineral deficiencies. There are spikes made especially for palms by Jobe's, and Stokes Tropical (online) sells a powder product.

The King Palm is an outdoor plant that needs a slow-release fertilizer applied in the spring in a two-foot circle around the base.

Use any fertilizer that is appropriate for plants in the palm family. Palms require a very special mixture of nutrients, so it is important to use a palm fertilizer. Follow package instructions to avoid over-feeding.

Fertilize during late spring and early summer with appropriate fertilizer. Use sparingly, as this plant does better with less. If your plant sits in low sunlight or shady areas, cut the fertilizer amount to less than half. Do not let fertilizer fall on plant leaves.

Check with a greenhouse they will know the best one to use for the plant because not all fertilizer is good for all plants and before you fertilize you will need to make sure the plant is healthy and they will know how to do this.

Well it is actually a great fertilizer. I have experienced many results with this for my palm trees. It has many nutrients that are going to make your tree grow bigger.

Well, any fertilizer with a nutrient based soil will do. Any thing with lots of zinc and minerals will be good.
