If the car is not set up for ethanol E-85 can cause damage. It will harm the seals and plastic or rubber pieces of the fuel system. It can also do damage to the injectors.

Well the main problem with E85 is the alcohol in the fuel. On no flex fuel compatible cars it can act like a solvent and actually deteriorate fuel lines and seals. You may have engine issues do to the computer inability to adjust the fuel being added to engine.

Putting E85 in your tank will not harm it immediately so long as your car isn't older than 1988, and you don't prolong use.

It won't hurt the engine but the vehicle probably won't run right. Put a little gasoline in the car to dilute it. Should run fine.
