What do you think the real meaning is of "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost?

I think it is a literal poem.

I think it means that no matter which road you take, it will make all the difference. You can go where few have gone, or follow the path most people take. Either way, it will make all the difference for whatever you do the rest of your life.

In "The Road Not Taken", the narrator creates an extended metaphor for the tiny choices we make in life everyday and which in fact shape our destinies. Why choose one path and not another? The forest path he finally chooses is not so very different from the other, just a little less common. Through that choice, his life changes.

To me the meaning of the poem is all about missed opportunity and one always wondering what might have been if they were brave enough to explore the other side.
