What do you think of this statement: "Our courts have too much power and control."

A lot of judges think our courts have too little power and control - with less flexible sentencing guidelines, the courts lack the ability to "judge"; that is, to understand the nature of the transgression and punish in an appropriate manner. Maybe it's legislatures with too much power.

I don't think the courts have too much power. However, I do believe there are judges that try to pass legislation from the bench.
