What do you look for in tool cabinets?

I want to purchase a tool cabinet for my husbands birthday and have no idea what I am looking for.

Mechanic here. Things to look for in a good tool cabinet are the following: first, number of drawers- more is generally better, but make sure that you have a few deep / tall cabinets for big tools. Wheels (casters) are important too- low quality ones will break quickly, every time. Locking cabinets are a plus too.

Think about what tools your husband needs to store before looking. Make sure there are spaces for small tools and large tools too. Once you have those down you're good.

I look for cabinets that go well with the work area, meaning the type of wood. And they must be wood! I like hinges on my work cabinet doors. Along with a nice wide space inside. I need hooks or slots on the back of the door for things like hammers and wrenches and lots of space for boxes inside.

Well basically you want something well built and durable. It should be sturdy, have plenty of room for his tools, and the drawers should move smoothly. Extra feature like a light are nice but not necessary. A locking mechanism may also be something to look for.
