usually, a doctor will not do one without a full psychological evaluation. The surgery takes care of phsyical changes, but hormonal ones are more difficult.The entire procdure is difficult.

Most doctors will not perform them on anyone young and it is a time consuming process. Expect to be in surgery for at least 3 times of which all of them will be overnight stays at the hospital. Also they will usually ask you to take some time after considering it to make sure you really want to do it.
