A level surface and positioning the first tile are critical when tiling a floor. Using the largest level possible, check the surface and apply leveling cement on any inconsistencies. For positioning, the first tile should be in the center of the floor to allow perfect symmetry for all remaining cuts.

Make sure you have an additional bathroom, the supplies needed to install the tile, and a good concept of installing directly to concrete subfloor or cement board to wood subfloor.

It's easy to do it and you can do it for yourself. It may take a while if you do it yourself though.
