The first thing in starting a business is to have a business plan. That is the most important thing. Talk to family members about starting business idea to see how they would react. Talk to a local public small business agent. Do research about the market you want to sell. Talk to business consultant in a bank.

This is a short spot to answer a long question, but first you need to ask yourself, what sort of business? This will then lead to questions of partners, financing, and liabilities. These questions will be answered by which sort of business you wish to set up from there such as LLC, S Corp, or other.

Make sure you have decided what type of business, (LLC, Partnership, Primary Owner) and do the market research. Ensure that you have a concise business plan which details the basics of your organizational structure, financial plans as well as anticipated growth. Contact your local chamber of commerce for local resources.

You will need to find out the laws concerning your type of business in your state. Also, write a detailed business plan, defining your business and its objectives. Many cities have organizations affiliated with the Chamber of Commerce or independent organizations that help write business plans and help new businesses define what they need and help them get it.
