Ideally, you should wait two hours before eating anything to allow your stomach time to settle. Then you should start with clear fluids like ice chips, water, clear pop, bouillon, tea or a prepared drink such as Pedialyte or Gatorade. If you hold this down, then you can eat from the BRATS diet: bananas, rice, applesauce, toast and saltine crackers.
