Eight year olds are sociable and curious. Many have favorite games - ask him to bring one with him, and learn his game. They like museums and novel locations. Eight year olds love to feel helpful and capable - and to be included in adults' activities. Invite him to work with you on a cooking project or making something.
It's difficult to say; all eight-year-old boys are not the same. Talk to his mom or dad to get ideas. He might like board games, sports, books, etc. Who knows?
Eight year olds like to usually play sports (baseball, football, basketball, etc), but also, games such as hide and seek, tag, etc. Toys which are age appropriate, and video games as well.
