A high sugar diet, sodas, etc attracts mosquitoes. It is said that eating garlic or onions helps to avoid them- however this may not work. They bite where they will.

I don't know if this is true, but garlic in good amounts wards off mosquitoes and makes your blood taste bad to them. Though, then you might not get invited to go out places from your friends. Certain fragrances also keep the little buggers at bay. One of them being peppermint, lavender, etc.

Raw garlic, not only does it affect your breath it also comes out through the pores. (since sweat is an attractor) Avoid sugar and any type of stimulant. Try brewers yeast, mint leaves, cinnamon. A little cayenne might go a long way. Eat the rind of an organic lemon.

Usually if you eat garlic and onions the odor that's given off with sweat repels mosquitoes. Also, I think vanilla may be a deterrent.

I used to be bug central. I've switched to a vegan diet (no meat and no animal products), and they pretty much leave me alone now.
