Question by  sajdakota (73)

What cut of beef should I use to make beef stew?

What other ingredients should I use?

Answer by  Cathie (670)

I use an inexpensive cut like chuck, not ground. Potatoes, canned tomatoes, carrots, onions and garlic are what I normally use. I have put in string beans, peas and have used corn in there as well.

I personally use chuck roast cut into cubes because it usually has nice marbling and flavor. Remember, fat is good when making stews and soups. Other ingredients are usually carrots, potatoes, celery, onion, garlic and various other herbs according to one's personal taste. I usually add mushrooms to mine as well. Hope that helps.
