Pelvic cramps are often caused when a woman is ovulating or menstruating. When your ovary releases an egg, some women feel it in the form of stomach cramps. Some women also feel the process of their uterine lining and unused egg beig shed in the form of menstrual cramping when it's that time of the month.

Women tend to get pelvic cramps during or right before they get their monthly period. If it is not that time of the month another reason could be an infection such as a urinary tract infection.

Pelvic cramps in women are generally caused by the uterine lining sloughing off during the menstrual cycle. Cramps can also result when a fertilized egg implants in the uterus or as the uterus expands during pregnancy.
