What could cause inflammation in the back of my mouth?

Streptococci is one infection that can be caught in the back of the mouth. The back of the mouth is very ulcerated and a course of penicillin is normally needed to clear the infection. Another infection is the start of a cold where the throat is sore and inflamed in both cases drink plenty of water.

A common cause of inflammation in the back of the mouth is GERD or reflux. Acid from the stomach gets into the back of the throat at night and cause irritation to the mouth and throat. Also strep can cause irritation to the back of mouth. You might consider seeing an ENT doctor.

I found out I had gonorrhea of the throat it was after there was some inflammation in the back of my mouth. Apparently, I had caught gonorrhea while on a trip to Mexico, I believe I got it from a Mexico City "Kissing Both. " Regardless, inflammation in the mouth and throat area is no joke.

It could be strep throat. It could be mononucleosis, or it could be the a sore throat symptom that sometimes accompanies flus and colds, or most likely a sinus or upper respiratory infection caused by allergens or pollutants or bacteria. Also could be tonsilitis. If it doesn't go away or gets worse, go see a doctor. Gargle salt water.
