Depth perception loss can happen if one eye's ability to see is affected as well as head trauma causing brain injury or retinal detachment.

Loss of depth perception is a common side effect of some medications used for mental health. It is usually countered by the use of Diazepam.

Usually if one eye is drastically worse vision wise, a loss of depth perception is very noticeable. If the patient has developed the loss recently they should be checked for tumors along the optic tract as well as infection
