It could be an allergic reaction to the ink used. Red ink is the most often the allergen. Rubbing lotion on it once or twice a day may help.

You could be having an allergic reaction to the lotion they use after the tattoo. Be sure to gently wash it off.

Bumps on a tattoo could be caused by clogged pores, acne, or from having a sunburn recently where the skin has peeled in the vicinity of the tattoo. There could also be a slight infection, so you should apply antibiotic ointment.

It could be a couple of different things. It could be a clogged hair follicle or where there is extra ink that was push under the skin. Or you could be having a reaction to the lotion you are using for after care.

If its still in the healing process, it may be a slight infection. But if they tattoo is already healed and bumps have come up out of nowhere, they are most likely keloids. Keloids are excessive scar tissue that may be seen as raised bumps under the skin. They are extremely common and are not harmful in the slightest.

Bumps on a new tattoo could be inflammation, which is part of the healing process, or they could also be due to scar tissue that was caused by getting the tattoo itself.

Bumps are probably nothing to worry about. Changes in weather or skin care can lead to those bumps, but it generally doesn't mean anything. Have you changed lotions lately? Or has the weather changed lately? Maybe you're having a slight allergic reaction to something. Unless there's pain or discomfort also, don't be concerned.

Bumps on a new tattoo are part of the healing process. If you care for it properly and keep it clean and don't pick at it the bumps will eventually go away and the skin will be smooth.

The bumps could be scabbing, which is a normal after being tattooed. As always though, with any concern, consult your tattoo artist to make sure it's not something more.

The simple answer is infection. If the needle was dirty or your skin was dirty, then you could have an infection. You could also be allergic to the ink that was used. Consult a dermatologist.

Most commonly, red ink can cause granulomas around tattoo ink. Blue and green ink also have a high risk of causing granulomas. If your bumps happen to be red, this could be an allergic reaction to using neosporin. When the red bumps go away it takes ink with them.
