Upper back pain is common, and can be caused by poor posture from an injury or sitting for long periods of time without flexing the muscles in that area. It could be a more serious problem like a slipped disc.

A herniated disc, the pain should radiate than. It probably is just some muscle pain because of too heavy lifting or something.
