What could be the cause of vinegar smelling sweat?

There can be many factors contributing to the vinegar smelling sweat, these include dietary imbalances, low blood sugar, parasites, liver disease or over active sweat glands.

If the odor of his sweat has changed he could be evaluated by a physician. Sometimes the foods one eats can affect the smell of one's perspiration. Of course it is important that adequate physical hygiene is being maintained for bacteria can grow if it isn't. Some people use vinegar for excessive perspiration. Is he using vinegar to decrease perspiration?

If vinegar smells sweet, either it has been mixed with something in sufficient quantity to mask the acidic smell, or more likely, the container in which the vinegar is in, actually contains something else than vinegar. It does not have a breakdown product that smells good, so most likely it is not vinegar; unless perhaps it is an expensive Balsamic.
