Frequent thirst can be an indication for diabetes but that may not tell the whole story. Frequent and excessive thirst can be a sign of dehydration. It can also signal an adverse reaction to aspartame, an artificial sweetener commonly used in diet drinks. Speak with your doctor about your concerns.

A disease called Sjogren's syndrome which causes inflammation of the moisture producing glands can cause a dry mouth which could also translate into what seems to be thirst; diabetes can also cause excessive thirst; and the easiest answer is eating salty foods or a salty meal.
