It would be nice to put a lighter color on the ground if your couch is dark brown. Beige is a good neutral choice that would balance the darkness of your couch.

Brown is a very neutral colour and will goes with many colours. A neutral combination would be beige or cream; a soft combination would be with a pastel colour such as pale blue; a colour such as lime green looks great with chocolate brown for a strong combination.

it should always base of how dark or light is the color of your couch.a color of yellow or lighter would be suited in it. but the base color for a room is still in question because you need it to harmonies the color.
