What causes the fill tube to freeze on a GE ice maker?

have you ever tried to empty a straw with your finger on one end? you need to drill a tiny hole near the top of the fill tube to let the water out. if you dont, the water drips down the tube and ice builds up. good luck with that.

heater installed in the freez to defrost the saturated ice may not be working properly causing the blockage fill tubes.

This can be caused by water leaking and having it freeze so you might want to tighten things up or it might just be the ice melting from inside which means that the refrigerator is not working properly.

You may need to look at the temp the freezer is on and see if you put it on too much cold.
