The exact cause of night cramps is unknown and are very common. Often a movement made in bed that shortens the muscle, like pointing the toes down, can cause cramping. Some medication are known to cause cramps too.

Often times night cramps are caused by one of two things. First you could be sleeping in odd positions and therefore restricting the blood flow to your limbs. Try altering your sleeping positions by using a body pillow or similar device. Secondly, your potassium intake may be low and you may wish to supplement this with vitamins.

Night cramps usually come from the way a person tenses and contracts their muscles during sleep. You could also be causing nerve damage during your sleep. It might be worth it to talk to a doctor, chiropractor, or sleep specialist to see if there are better positions you could sleep in or pillows you could be using.

Probably low potassium. Eat lots of bananas. After you eat bananas for a week or so it should clear up you can also try a multivitamin with potassium in it.
